Biographical Information

Steve is a highly regarded and experienced Litigator, Trial Attorney and Health Care Attorney, experienced in all phases of personal injury, municipal liability, professional negligence, malpractice and transactional litigation in all Courts, as well as experienced in Bio-Medical issues and Hospital practices.  Steve started his career in the Bronx District Attorney’s office, where he tried over 75 cases to verdict, many of which involved charges of the sale of narcotics, including one of the first crack cases in the City of New York.  The impact of these was significant, for these types of crimes that directly impacted the day to day lives of community members.

Upon leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Steve joined a Hudson Valley based law firm focusing his practice on the representation of health care professionals and facilities in the defense of malpractice cases, as well as appearances before governmental investigations. In 1991, Steve joined the predecessor of Catania, Mahon, Milligram and Rider PLLC (CMMR) and became a partner shortly after

 

Since then he has tried an increasing variety of cases, while still maintaining a focus upon the representation of doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals and institutions.  He has tried nearly 200 cases to verdict, with a high success rate.  Steve has also counseled and represented these professionals before state boards and against state investigations

Steve has also had great success representing and protecting the rights of those individuals injured through the negligence of others, as a result of motor vehicle accidents, slips and falls, dangerous conditions on premises, and defective products.  He has been invited to join the Million Dollar Advocates Society, a recognition of his unparalleled representation of the injured in personal injury cases, and is Board Certified both as a Civil Trial Attorney and in Civil Pre-Trial Practice Advocacy

 

Born and raised in Yonkers, New York, Steve has deep roots in the Hudson Valley, and in fact most of his education was received locally:
