Paul N. Schlemmer is Board Certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, which is a distinction held by less than 4% of the attorneys in the United States of America. Obtaining National Board Certification in Civil Trial Advocacy requires an attorney to have an extensive number of days on trial as lead counsel, recommendations from judges, recommendations from adversary attorneys, and recommendations from other members of the bar, as well as passing the National Board Examination. Mr. Schlemmer is also Board Certified in Civil Pre-Trial Practice Advocacy by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification.

Through hard work and dedication to his clients, Paul Schlemmer has made his mark in the courtroom as an accomplished trial attorney and has received significant praise and notoriety among his clients and colleagues for having handled numerous cases involving very serious and catastrophic injuries.  The hard work and dedication that Mr. Schlemmer has put forth in pursuing the worthy causes of these very deserving clients – who have often suffered physically, emotionally and financially – has resulted in obtaining very significant monetary verdicts and settlements for his clients.  These very serious cases have included both multiple seven figure and eight figure results with several million dollar and multi-million dollar verdicts for his clients, including record-setting verdicts for particular injuries and particular counties within New York State.  However, Mr. Schlemmer believes that the amounts of the monetary compensation achieved for past clients should not be the motivating factor that brings a person together with The Schlemmer Firm, but rather what that compensation represents: The ability to secure justice for deserving members of our community.

In 2005, Mr. Schlemmer became the first attorney in the United States of America to win a products liability verdict against the world’s largest manufacturer of treadmills for injuries that were being sustained by infants who were becoming trapped in a defect at the rear of the treadmill. Hundreds of these infant injuries had been reported to the federal government’s Consumer Products Safety Commission with the infants often suffering de-gloving injuries to their hands. Shortly after the verdict, these defectively designed treadmills were removed from the marketplace. The experience of that case and its profound impact has remained with Mr. Schlemmer as a reminder of the ability to effect change through the legal system.

Paul Schlemmer has an established reputation for pursuing justice on behalf of his clients regardless of the size or financial power of the opposition involved.  Mr. Schlemmer has successfully litigated for his clients against some of the largest corporate interests in the world including all of the A.M. Best top 12 insurance companies in the United States, the top Medical Malpractice insurers in New York State, and the world’s top 3 automaker Volkswagen Group. Mr. Schlemmer also has extensive experience handling cases for clients with the most catastrophic of injuries, including brain damage, quadriplegia, paraplegia, leg amputations, hand and arm amputations, loss of sight, loss of speech, loss of hearing, loss of nerve sensation, removal of bodily organs, and the medical malpractice failure to diagnose and treat cancer and other serious conditions.
