Biographical Information
Nicholas L. Ottaviano, Esquire – Law Offices of Lucas Magazine, PLLP
Nick Ottaviano was born and raised on Long island, New York. He received his B.A. Degree from The University of Florida and his J.D. Degree from The University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he graduated in the top third of his class. While in law school, Nick was a law clerk for several prominent Gainesville attorneys and completed a legal internship with the Office of the State Attorney.
Since being admitted to the Florida Bar in 1989, Nick has spent his entire career as a trial and litigation attorney in the Tampa Bay area and has tried over 50 jury and non-jury trials in state and federal court, including those involving serious bodily injury claims and felony criminal charges. Prior to joining Lucas & Magazine, Nick was an attorney with Florin Roebig, P.A. for over 7 years and before that practiced insurance defense, employment law defense and complex commercial litigation. Nick now practices personal injury law with Lucas & Magazine.
Nick is a Florida Bar Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer; is peer review rated “AV Preeminent, Judicial Edition” by Martindale-Hubbell; and is a member of The National Trial Lawyers “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” For Florida/Civil Plaintiff. Nick is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil Mediator. He also is one of the “Ten Best” attorneys in client satisfaction with the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys. Nick is a member of the Florida Justice Association (FJA) and American Association for Justice. He also has been featured as a “Top Rated Lawyer” in the Daily Business Review.
Nick has been active in professional and civic groups, including Rotary and the Trinity Business Association. He is a Board Member of Youth & Family Alternatives. He is a Past-President of the Kiwanis Club of Palm Harbor and has served as a pro bono attorney for the 6th Judicial Circuit Guardian Ad Litem Program. He has served as a presiding and scoring judge at national law school mock trial competitions, is former chairperson for Florida Bar Grievance Committees 6B and 6C and has taught Florida tort law as an adjunct professor at Stetson College of Law.
Nick is a member of The Florida Bar, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. He also is a member of the West Pasco Bar Association, Clearwater Bar Association, Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section and West Pasco Bar Association Trial Lawyers Committee.
Nick enjoys running, biking and attending concerts. He is married and has two adult children.
