D. Scott Messersmith

Mr. Messersmith is a native of Salisbury, Maryland, a former naval officer, and an honors graduate from the University of Maryland School of Law who has been practicing law since 2000. Before joining the Montero Law Group, he served for several years as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the State’s Attorney’s Office in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Mr. Messersmith is an extremely experienced trial attorney, selected in 2014 and 2015  as a Top 100 Criminal Defense Trial Attorney by the National Trial Lawyers.  He is thoroughly versed in the criminal law, and is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He has prosecuted and defended thousands of traffic and criminal cases, including: driving on suspended license, drunken driving, theft, domestic violence, drug possession and distribution, felony assault, handgun possession and use, vehicular homicide and automobile manslaughter, and murder. In addition, Mr. Messersmith has litigated numerous civil matters, concentrating in personal injury law and general civil litigation.
