Biographical Information

Ms. Goldberg is a director in the Albuquerque office and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. She practices in the areas of real estate, financings, banking, foreclosures, commercial law, leases, contracts and corporate law. She has handled a number of complex purchase and sale, financing, leasing, and other commercial transactions as well as foreclosures. She also is experienced in handling landlord-tenant and liquor license matters. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Goldberg served as law clerk to Honorable Howard C. Bratton of the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico.

Ms. Goldberg is a frequent speaker at meetings of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the Real Property Institute of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the New Mexico Bar Association, and other professional organizations. Ms. Goldberg is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, (ACREL) where she serves on the Programs Committee and the Opinions Committee. She is also a member of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA) where she serves on the Publications Committee and the Opinions Committee. Ms. Goldberg has been included in The Best Lawyers in America in real estate, banking and finance law, and litigation-banking and finance law, continuously since 1995, and she has been listed in Chambers USA America’s Leading Business Lawyers in real estate continuously since its inception in 2003. She has also been listed in Southwest Super Lawyers in both real estate and banking, since its inception in 2007. In the 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2018, 2019, and 2022 editions she is recognized as one of the Top 25 Lawyers in New Mexico. In July of 2014, Ms. Goldberg received the Justice Pamela B. Minzner Professionalism Award from the State Bar of New Mexico. The award, named for the late Pamela B. Minzner, New Mexico Supreme Court Justice, is the highest award given by the State Bar. Ms. Goldberg received the award in recognition of her outstanding professional conduct over many years of practice and for her involvement in the Albuquerque community through her service on the boards of many community organizations.

In April 2016, Ms. Goldberg was inducted into the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. NADC is an organization dedicated to promoting the highest standards of legal excellence. Only the top one percent of attorneys in the United States are awarded membership in NADC.

Ms. Goldberg has represented numerous buyers and sellers in acquisition/sale transactions, as well as lenders and borrowers in the negotiation and documentation of loan and related transactions, including workouts and deed in lieu of foreclosure transactions. Services performed include counseling and negotiating on behalf of lenders and borrowers with respect to financing terms, collateral arrangements and workouts; preparing documents or reviewing and revising (for use in New Mexico) documents prepared by others in connection with new loans, modifications and workouts; and preparing opinions on enforceability and in connection with financing, acquisition, and related transactions. Ms. Goldberg has handled numerous complex foreclosures and receiverships representing lenders and borrowers in commercial transactions. She also has represented lessors and lessees and parties dealing with liquor license issues.

Ms. Goldberg’s experience in representing purchasers and sellers in real estate and business property acquisitions includes negotiating purchase agreements, as well as transfer and other closing documents, preparing documents, investigating and resolving title, subdivision and zoning matters, and preparing and delivering legal opinions.
